Congratulation to the 2022-2023 graduating class

We are so proud of what they have accomplished. As we celebrate them, we also celebrate the village supporting them. Thank you!

You have heard it again and again! Celebrate small victories along the way, and that is what we did together a couple of weeks ago. Why? Because the journey is long and there are so many ambushes in life. Celebrating each milestone reminds you of your goal and progress, boosting your confidence and self-esteem and motivating you to keep going.

The 15 boys and girls aged 7 to 14 years we celebrated on April 15 dedicated themselves for 24 weeks to acquiring new skills. Their commitment, creativity and curiosity inspired us all. This may be their first step, but we are confident they have a bright future ahead of them.

Check out a sample of the projects they produced.

As the village, I encourage you to celebrate the children and youth in your circle. Celebrating their accomplishments will help boost their self-esteem and motivate them to achieve even more.

Seven ways you can celebrate the leader in the making in your life

  1. Throw a small party or celebration at home with close family and friends to honour
  2. Go out for a special meal at their favourite restaurant
  3. Buy them or make together a small gift/symbol or token of appreciation
  4. Write them a heartfelt card
  5. Give them a hug and words of encouragement and praise them for their hard work and dedication, highlighting their demonstrated qualities.
  6. Share the news of their accomplishment with family, friends, and even on social media so others can join in and they can feel the support and love from their community.
  7. Create a special photo album or scrapbook to document their journey towards their accomplishment.

Remember, a celebration is not about the size or cost, but rather the thought and effort put into honouring the other person, showing them how proud we are. Don’t be afraid to be creative and use your imagination. It can even be an opportunity to draw from your own culture, reinforcing their identity while helping them develop a healthy view of themselves.
